McMaster University Team

Peter Szatmari, MD
Dr. Peter Szatmari is Professor and Vice-Chair, Research, and Head of the Division of Child Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, where he holds the Chedoke Health Chair in Child Psychiatry. He has been working in the field of autism for more than 20 years and is the principal investigator for the Canadian component of this study.

Shannon Werner, MA
Shannon has been working in autism research for 3 years with Dr. Peter Szatmari. Presently, Shannon is the project coordinator for this study and administers psychometric testing for a number of projects at the Offord Centre for Child Studies.

Ann Thompson, MSc
Ann is the data manager for this study. She has been working in autism research for the past ten years with Dr. Peter Szatmari. Presently she designs and manages databases for a number of projects.

Ellie Deveau, BScN
Ellie has worked in autism research for the last four years and was the research coordinator on the Autism and Language Genetics Study with Dr. Lonnie Zwaigenbaum. Presently, she is a psychometrist with the Genetics of Autism Studies and research coordinator for the Prospective Evaluation of Head and Brain Growth in Infants at High Risk for Autism Study.

  • Dr. Stephen Scherer, PhD, director at the Centre for Applied Genomics, Hospital for Sick Children, senior scientist, Genetics and Genomic Biology, Hospital for Sick Children, and professor of medicine, University of Toronto.
  • Dr. John Vincent, PhD, assistant professor, University of Toronto, and head of the Laboratory for Molecular Studies in Developmental Neuropsychiatry, at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
  • Dr. Wendy Roberts, MD, professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Toronto and director of the Child Development Centre, Hospital for Sick Children.
  • Dr. Jeremy Goldberg, MD, assistant professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University.
  • Dr. William Mahoney, MD, associate professor, Department of Pediatrics, McMaster University.
  • Dr. Bridget Fernandez, PhD, clinical geneticist, Department of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
